Now to be completely frank, I really don’t prefer John Mayer’s music. I never could get into his sound, it seemed contrived and forced. When I was in high school, he was all the rage, it seemed like everyone was listening to Your body is a Wonderland on a nonstop clip and I maybe it was just my idea of rebelling against pop culture (to be quite honest, I had really weird taste in music back then) and I just couldn’t get into it. It wasn’t that his music was bad or that I didn’t particularly like it or anything, but I just never felt that it was particularly special. Nothing about John Mayer’s old work screamed to me “Hey! You need to appreciate the music that I’m making!” and that was really all the chance I gave it.
